Three blocks from the beach and board-walk, this 1905 Queen Anne Victorian sitsjust over the border from Wildwood and its amusements but light-years away in mood. Paul DiFilippo and Diane Buscham, inspired by blissful stays in bed-and-breakfasts, sold their motel to open North Wildwood’s first B&B. Also the operators of a B&B reservation service, they are dedicated to providing the personal touches that make stays memorable.
Guests can relax by soaking in a private whirlpool (available in some rooms) or the house hot tub (on the sundeck). They can sip sherry in the foyer’s fireplace nook or in their rooms, which have appropriate names like Oak, Pine, Walnut, Satin and Lace, and Bay Window. In the main house, there’s a vintage air. Period an-tiques, such as converted brass gaslight fixtures and the parlor’s 1855 Empire sofa and 1890 Eastlake piano, adornthe second-floor common areas. Downstairs, two bedrooms can be rented as a suite with a private fireplace-warmed parlor. Out back in the newly converted, two-unit Surveyor’s Cottage, fireplaces have gas logs instead of wood, but though the feeling is modern, it’s just as romantic.
