Like Holly House (see above), Springside is a Seven Sister property. It’s been home to Meryl and Bill Nelson for almost 20 years, and home is exactly what it feels like. When their children moved away, the Nelsons felt a need for company, so they opened the house to teachers, professors, nurses, psychologists, actors, and others in search of lodgings that are reasonably priced without being anonymous. “We wanted to run a place where we’d be able to stay if we left home,” explains Meryl. “Bill and I really enjoy meeting and being with people who are doinginterestingthings.” Guests feel the same way.
Bill is the author of Surfing: A Hand-book and is a boat builder. Meryl teaches desktop publishing. Together they have filled the house with items they would want to find when on the road: big comfy beds with heated mattress pads in win-ter, good reading light, and books and magazines in every room. Two cats, Therapy and Rochester, make them-selves available for petting.
