Five blocks from the beach, a short walk from the business district and train station, and across from two parks and Spring Lake itself, this small family-owned and -operated hotel has a prime location. The original section was built in 1888, but over the years new rooms, a gazebo, two sundecks, the breakfast room, and an adjacent building have been added to create a rambling complex.
The emphasis is not on period decor; there are white walls, some tin ceilings, carpeting, Waverly fabrics, contemporary and wicker furnishings, and a wealth of modern amenities. All rooms have cable TV with VCRs, radios, two phones, in-room safes, small refrigerators, and marble baths, while luxury units add wet bars, wood-burning or gas fireplaces, hair dryers, and oversize soaking or whirlpool tubs. Some have full kitchens and private balconies overlooking the park.
