“The house is so warm and welcoming and comfortable,” says Nancy McDonald, who, along with husband, Tom, bought this 1905 B&B in 1995. Admitted “corporate dropouts,” Tom and Nancy had stayed at the Manor House several times. “It was our favorite,” confesses Nancy, and when the opportunity to own it arose, they jumped at it.
The McDonalds hope visitors will relax and mingle with other guests in the fire-place room, stocked with puzzles; the garden, with umbrellas and Adirondack furniture; or the foyer whose window seat is perfect for sipping port or sherry each afternoon. Up the oak and chestnut staircase and past the landing’s stained-glass window are the guest rooms, “named after famous numbers.” They are outfitted with brass and wood beds and, a nice touch, perfumes.
