This 1907 Dutch colonial with a turret is about half a block from the beach and boardwalk, in a sleepy residential area away from the commercial district. It is decked out in a mix of antiques, newer furnishings, and seashore bric-a-brac that creates a relaxing homey feel. The suite, for example, has a queen canopy in one room and a bay with an over grown window seat used as a bed in the other. The “window bed” is wrapped by a spread and curtains of pansies. A win-dow seat in the living room is filled with board games.
Innkeeper Pat O’Keefe is a microbiologist, and her partner Knute Iwaszko, now retired, is a serious runner who can plan courses of any length (the shortest is about 20 feet—just far enough to collapse on the porch). Runners of all levels, from slow joggers to such world-class competitors as Greta Waitz, stay at the Seaflower, run in the local races, and celebrate afterward with Pat and Knute. Other popular special events are Valentine’s Day and mystery weekends.
