Cheap Bed and Breakfast in New Jersey: The Whistling Swan Inn, Stanhope

The Cabbage Rose Inn has cabbage roses, the Peacock Inn has peacocks, and the Whistling Swan Inn has swans. It also has innkeepers Paula Williams and Joe Mulay, who saw the potential in this 1904 house and renovated, restored, and reshaped it into a lovely Victorian B&B. They kept and enhanced what was beautiful—the tiger-oak woodwork, the octagonal tower room with conical ceiling—and added what was missing, most notably 11 bath-rooms. The only original bath, now called Tubs for Two, has a pair ofclaw-foot soak-ers for double dipping.
Most of the inn’s guest rooms contain country Victorian antiques and reproductions, but three have themes—Art Deco, 1940s, and Oriental.
