This 1860 Empire-style bed-and-break-fast with a Mansard roof is on a side street near the center of Saratoga Springs and is in easy walking distance of Broadway, Congress Park, and the track. The house has a somewhat color-ful history: It was a notorious rooming house. Bruce De Luke, a retired fire-fighter, and his wife, Cathleen, both an-tiques dealers, have turned the place into an alluring, romantic retreat. Wicker furnishings and old-lace decor prevail, and the exterior color scheme of pink, mauve, and gray is repeated in the bedrooms and common areas.
The inn offers a first-floor double room, with a queen-size pencil post bed and pink Victorian lamp (which imparts an appropriate rosy glow). There is a tiny but charming bungalow in the backyard, which has a loft bed for children. The atmosphere here is easy and undemanding. Guests are free to mingle or not, and breakfast is laid out on a leisurely basis; you can serve yourself anytime of the morning.
