You can see the Green Mountains of Vermont from the Italianate veranda of the Crislip’s Bed and Breakfast. The Fed-eral house, built in 1805 and remodeled in 1848 in the popular Greek Revival style, was owned by Queensbury’s first doctor, who later became town supervisor. Queensbury is about halfway between Saratoga Springs and Lake George—near but just far enough off the beaten track.
Joyce Crislip is a former teacher, and her husband, Ned, teaches music. The hosts’ musical interests are in evidence throughout the house: A Steinway grand piano is the focal point of the living room; the framed, 15th-century score of a Gregorian chant hangs on the wall of the studio. The Blue Room, with its canopied, carved mahogany bed and mahogany highboy, is favored by honeymooners; the first-floor studio (with a
kitchenette) is often the choice of older couples. The Green Room has a king-size four-posterbed. Ned willgladly give you the tour and tell you the details of the period antiques that fill the house.
