Cheap Bed and Breakfast in New York: Hedges' Inn, East Hampton

If you’re up early enough, you might see pheasants searching out breakfast in the front yard ofHedges’ Inn. The property sits across from a pond where cattle grazed in the mid-1600s, when the area was first settled. In winter, when skaters glide over the frozen pond, the vista is a Currier and Ives print brought to life.
The inn, now owned by the Palm Man-agement Corporation, was built as a private residence in 1774. A varied selection offlowers in brilliant hues lines the brick path to the columned front porch, where visitors can ease themselves into green-cushioned wicker chairs and enjoy the passing scene. Guest rooms are attractively furnished with patchwork quilts, frilly shams, and throw pillows. You sit down to breakfast at English-pine tables adorned with baskets of blooms in a small, sunny dining room. A buffet is set on a carved-pine hutch. In warm weather, guests dine on the canopied flagstone patio.
