Cheap Bed and Breakfast in New York: Lake Placid Lodge, Lake Placid

True Adirondack style permeates this property, from the twig and birch-bark furniture to the wood decks and stone fireplaces. Originally a rustic lodge built before the turn of the century, Lake Placid Lodge embodies the spirit of Lake Placid’s past, but it cossets guests with the comforts of modern-day, luxurious amenities. Kathryn Kincannon, managing director, and her ever-accommodating staffdo everythingpossible to ensure that your stay is a memorable one.
Guest rooms, which are named for the region’s high peaks and lakes, are in three buildings: the main lodge, Lake-side Lodge, and Cedar Lodge. There are also 16 studio and one- and two-bed-room lakefront cabins. Although they vary in size, all the guest rooms are exquisite. Hearthside, one of the most popular, has wood paneling, log-beam trim, a large stone fireplace, a king-size bed, and a large soaking tub for two. Feather beds, terry-cloth robes, Crab-tree & Evelyn toiletries, fresh fruit, and warm cookies left at your bedside complete the experience.
If seclusion is what you’re after, don’t overlook the cabins, which were built in the 1930s and are only a short walk from the main lodge. They sit right on the shores of Lake Placid and have big pic
ture windows and loads of privacy. All the cabins were renovated in 1997, and the attention paid to detail is remark-able, right down to the teas, coffees, and electric kettle placed in the room for early morning refreshment.
