Built around 1890, the Hill Guest House is the Hamptons without frills. Located a mile from the village of Southampton and a two-minute drive from the beach, the house offers clean and pleasant accommodations at low rates. Owners Mauro and Ronnie Salerno have been here since 1964, when they came for a two-week vacation at the guest house and ended up buyirigit. Mauro was in the meat business (“Selling rooms is the same as selling sausages,” he says with alaugh) and today spends his spare time swimming and serving as a hospital volunteer. Ronnie is a gourmet cook who “does the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink,” boasts Mauro.
