In 1990 Joe and Lynn Rubino moved from New Jersey and made their vacation home of 20 years a full-time labor of love—and between the setting, the house, and the hosts, it is a B&B experience you won’t soon forget. The white, wooden, circa-1750 house sits on a hill
surrounded by 176 acres ofmeadows and forest, five minutes outside of Wan-ens-burg. The common rooms are busy with all manner ofantiques and knickknacks. Art and graphics fight for space on the crowded walls. Guest rooms are small but distinctive, combining a country decor with artistic touches; all have coffeemakers and café tables.
The Rubinos are active in local civic or-ganizations—they know whom to con-tact for any area interest you want to pursue, from an airplane ride to exploring historical sites. Joe takes two Polaroids of every guest before they depart, one as a momento to take home and one for the inn’s photo album.
