The Martindale Bed and Breakfast Inn is located in rural Columbia County. The 1852 building is a Hudson Valley “bracket house,” a hybrid of Southern, Victorian, and Federal architecture. It was in the
same family for 134 years before it began its new life as a bed-and-breakfast. It is now supervised by innkeepers Terry and Soll Berl—a retired teacher and a physician, respectively.
The Berls opened up a warren of small, dark spaces and turned it into an airy and elegant B&B. The wide-board floors found throughout are originals, and the chestnut molding was fashioned from trees growing on the propertywhen the house was built.
