Cheap Bed and Breakfast in New York: The Veranda House, Rhinebeck

Linda and Ward Stanley, originally from Philadelphia, are the sixth owners of this late Federal house with drop-spindle decoration and green shutters. Unlike many B&B owners, the Stanleys live in the same building where guests stay. They share the TV-sitting room and the diningroom with their guests (they close the pocket doors between the living and dining rooms when they are enter-taming). The Stanleys also engage in friendly, interesting conversation with visitors.
The house has been immaculately restored, and the decor is very tasteful with a mix of antique furniture and modem abstract paintings by Linda. There is one guest room on the first floor and three upstairs. Rooms have ceiling fans and pencil-post spindle beds. Breakfast is served in the dining room or out on the porch if weather permits.
