Most of the guest rooms are charming, although the rooms in the main house seem more so. For the premium prices charged by Troutbeck, guests might prefer a room with a fireplace or sunporch in the manor house (with its leaded-glass windows, 12,000-book oak-panel library, and English country appointments) or the Garden House (overlooking the walled gardens) to the Americana offered in the neighboring Century Farmhouse rooms. Of course, guests in any of the buildings have access to all the inn’s amenities.
If you can tear yourself away from the estate, the surrounding area is prime antiquing territory, and guests can take elegant prepared picnics with them on excursions. The inn will also arrange transportation to concerts at Tangle-wood, dance performances at Jacob’s Pulow, and Shakespeare at the Mount.
