Cheap Bed and Breakfast in Pennsylvania: Adamstown Inn, Adamstown

Adamstown, the antiques capital of Pennsylvania, is 20 minutes northeast of Lancaster. This three-story yellow-brick Victorian house is on a residential street in the heart of the antiques district. It was built in 1838 and rebuilt in 1925. Tom and Wanda Berman, both avid antiques collectors, left Baltimore and their banking careers to open a bed-and-breakfast in April 1989. You’ll find leaded-glass windows and doors, magnificently refithshed chestnut woodwork, and wallpaper in Victorian motifs. Each guest room is decorated with family heir-looms, handmade quilts, lace curtains, Oriental rugs, and fresh flowers. Baskets oftowels and soaps sit on Victorian beds. Two rooms have a two-person whirlpool bath. On summer weekends more than 3,000 antiques dealers exhibit their wares in Adamstown. You can browse through stalls, or, if you’re looking for something specific, the Bermans can direct you. They’ll also point you to nature trails and biking paths.
