Ash Mill Farm, on 11 pastoral acres, is 10 minutes by car from both New Hope and Doylestown. As you turn up the drive off Route 202, you will pass sheep grazing in the meadows and then come to the charming buff plaster-over-stone 1790 Federalmanorhouse with the large veranda.
When Jim and Patricia Auslander moved from New York City and became innkeepers in 1989, Jim traded in legal briefs for cookbooks and Patricia called upon her corporate managerial skills. They refurbished Ash Mill with eclectic treasures collected from Ireland and England, American antiques, and Shaker reproductions.
The downstairs rooms have high ceilings, random-width floors, and deep-set windows; the bed-rooms have tranquil views, rag rugs, canopy beds, and antique Irish armoires. Several magazines and sales catalogues have organized fashion shoots here be-cause of Ash Mill’s exterior and interior charms.
If an outing is in order, antiques shops and Peddler’s Village are only nunutes away.
