Cheap Bed and Breakfast in Pennsylvania: Bed and Breakfast at Walnut Hill, Avondale

This white clapboard-and-fieldstone Pennsylvania mill house just outside Kennett Square was built before 1840.
Proprietors Tom and Sandy Mills, who have lived here for three decades, opened it as a bed-and-breakfast in 1985. Across the crooked little road, beyond horses grazing in the meadow, is a creek where it’s so quiet you can hear every trickle as you watch for Canada geese, deer, or the occasional red fox to mean-der across the meadow. The house is warmly decorated with early 19th-century country antiques and reproductions; you’ll find bunches of dried herbs and flowers, pie safes, and a New En-gland whaler’s lamp over the table. The bedrooms are furnished with writing desks, Victorian wicker, and pencil-post
