This 1834 Federal redbrick town house, with black shutters and window boxes overflowing with flowers, is on a tree-lined street in Hanover, about 13 miles south of Gettysburg and York. In 1994 William and Susan Day bought the Beechmont, after having worked here for three years. Bill was the handyman and Susan served the breakfast; now they live in the carriage house out back. The inn is furnished with elegant Federal-period antiques and replicas. In the library are 18th-century books and a collection of Civil War memorabilia. One suite has a marble fireplace, and one has a whirlpool. Up the winding staircase, guest rooms have four-poster beds, writing desks, and lace curtains. During warmer months you can relax in the old-fashioned glider in the landscaped courtyard.
