Cheap Bed and Breakfast in Pennsylvania: Century Inn, Scenery Hill

This hand-hewn stone building with a long porch and two large stone chimneys on either end is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1794, Century Inn has offered hospitality to travelers passingthrough this village 35 miles south of Pittsburgh. In 1945 Dr. and Mrs. Gordon Harrington restored the inn and furnished it with heirlooms and rare American antiques. Today, their daughter-in-law, Megin Harrington, con-tinues the tradition. In the parlors are two identical fireplaces, a display of an-tique paperweights and glassware, and an original flag from the Whisky Rebel-lion hanging above one mantel. The guest rooms are as carefully furnished with antiques as the public areas. Superb meals are served in the five dining rooms. In the Keeping Room (the original kitchen), the massive fireplace has a hand-forged crane and curious cooking utensils. Megin will gladly direct you to the best places for antiquing, boating, and skiing—which are all within a short distance.
