The 15-room center-hall mansion is decorated throughout with European and American antiques. The glassed-in garden room, where breakfast is served, overlooks farmland and a distant mountam range. A onetime summer kitchen with a walk-in fireplace has been con-verted into a den with a TV with VCR. Guest rooms have antique marble sinks, and brass, iron, sleigh, carved, or four-poster canopy beds. You’ll find ward-robes, washstands, and TV cabinets handmade by an Amish craftsman. Each room has a sitting area. The dormer rooms on the third floor are comfortable but have low ceilings.
On many weekends special packages are offered that include scheduled events. These vary from Victorian balls, carriage rides, and murder mysteries to authentic Amish wedding feasts, barbecues with music, cabaret, classical string quartets, and festive holiday dinners. The inn is close to antiques and crafts markets, the Reading outlets, and Amish farms. You can bike, hike, fish, or cross-country ski in nearby French Creek State Park.
