A sheltered brick walkway connects the barn and the farmhouse restaurant, which is also furnished with Colonialreproductions. Near the entrance you’ll discover an unusual 18th-century bee-hive bread oven. Four of the dining rooms have stone fireplaces, and richly mullioned windows detail the dining areas. Under the direction of chef Michael Favacchio, the dinner menu features hickory smoked buffalo filet, duck confit with sweet potato ravioli, and a rich crepe stuffed with lobster and draped in brie sauce. The steaming, freshly baked popovers, served with tangy lemon curd, are legendary. Discoverentrées range from $18 to $30.
You can stroll through peaceful wooded areas adjoining the inn, and when it’s warm you can enjoy tea in the gazebo. Museums and battlefields are not far away, and Michael and his staff will point you to the best antiquing and shopping.
