Just outside West Chester, this 18th-century stucco-over-stone house is built into the bank ofa hill. It once housed the servants of a large estate. Innkeepers Diana and Michael Bové, who both worked in media services at a nearby university, opened their home to travel-ers in 1988, and Diana now manages the bed-and-breakfast full-time.
You enter the second-floor guest rooms by an outside staircase. (The two double rooms can be rented as a single suite, with private bath, on request.) The homey upstairs sitting room has an extensive collection of books, games, and brochures. Bedrooms are decorated with 19th-century oak antiques, stenciling, and fresh roses from Diana’s English gardens. The quilts she makes are displayed and are also for sale. Guests often linger in the narrow dining room over a hearty country breakfast; Diana specializes in apple soufflé pancakes and baked lemon crepes. |
