An atrium connects the stone house to the carriage house. This area, with brick floors and walls, isdecorated with primitive pieces and pottery. Farm implements are displayed on the walls, and opened antique cupboards are filled with antique toys. Down a wooden walkway is a deck and small garden, where dahlias, zinnias, petunias, and marigolds grow.
The guest rooms, with 18th-century stenciling on whitewashed walls, are furnished with country antiques and family pieces. You’ll also find oil paintings, prints, and drawings. A local potter made the basins for washstands and dressers that have been transformed into sinks.
After a candlelight breakfast set to classical music, you can relax in the atrium while you plan the day. The inn is an easy walk from the battlefield, shops, and restaurants.
