Cheap Bed and Breakfast in Pennsylvania: The Inn at Meadowbrook, East Stroudsburg

Guests who arrive at The Inn at Meadowbrook after dark are often relieved to find they aren’t lost. On the long and winding 4’/2 wooded miles from Tan-nersville you may begin to think you’ve missed it, but suddenly, around a corner, there it is, blanketed by soft light and trees and chirping night sounds: a white clapboard manor house with green trim. And just across the road is a white mill house that’s part of the inn. If you’re going to get pleasantlylost anywhere in the Poconos, this is the place to do it.
For many years the 1867 house and its 43 acres were a horse farm, and in 1985 Kathy and Bob Overman bought the estate and turned it into a bed-and-break-fast. Kathy, an artist who loves to garden, has given each of the guest rooms a distinctive decor. Bob, the resident gourmet chef, has mastered the celebrated raspberry-cinnamon-raisin pudding recipe you maybelucky enough to sample for breakfast.
You can curl up with a book on the leather sofa in the light-flooded parlor or in wing chairs that face the fireplace, or you can simply gaze out the windows at the pond, gazebo, and mill house. The spacious hunter-green dining room, added in the ‘20s, is a setting out of The Great Gatsby, with 15-foot ceilings, arched columns, and tall Palladian win-dows on three sides framing the gardens, the rushingbrook with footbridge, and a pond. French doors open onto the terrace for dining in warm months.
