A fresh, countrified air prevails inside theinn, not withstanding a few modern embellishments—a heated indoor pool, a poolside bar, and a spa. The dining room, open to guests and nonguests alike, is dominated by a large stone fireplace and decorated with a delicate floral-patterned wallpaper, pink tablecloths and wood-work, and bright blue cotton curtains over broad window valances. Resident chef George Pelepko Filak, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, is happy to accommodate special diets, but each standard menu is lavished with en-trees like medallions of veal lombardi; scampi with scallops, garlic, and wine; and steamed red snapper.
The rooms, accented by playful ruffles and flounces, echo the clean, bright-eyed ingenuousness of the downstairs dining room. They all have phones and private baths; fireplace suites and cottages are available. The Logans offer several discount package rates. Romance and privacy give visitors here a true escape. Winter delights include horse-drawn sleigh rides and cross-country skiing; in the summer diversions such as swimming, hiking, horseback riding, and fishing abound.
38 double rooms with baths, 16 suites. Phones in rooms, indoor pool, spa, restaurant; 9-hole putting course, cross-country ski trails, nature trails. $140—$220; full breakfast, dinner. American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa. No smoking in dining room, no pets.
