Cheap Bed and Breakfast in Pennsylvania: The Sterling Inn, South Sterling

Ron Logan, owner of the Sterling Inn, has put together a 10-page document tracing the site’s history, from its occupation by the Nini subtribe (a branch of the Leni—Lenape) all the way up to his and his wife’s proprietorship. “There is little wonder why the Indians would choose this particular site for their village,” he observes. “Mountains on either side, the Wallenpaupack Creek with an abundance of trout, level fertile land, bubbling springs, and plenty of deer, bear, and other game.”
It’s still lovely here today, and this in itself is testimony to Ron and Mary Kay Logan’s talent, energy, and restraint. The urn consists of an inviting white clapboard main house with hunter-green rooftop, built in 1857, and a cluster of cottages. It all sits on the road, nestled in a forested valley traversed by nature trails and winding waterways. The couple provides once-a-week lectures and guided nature walks, conducted by local author John Serrao, so that guests can absorb more than a glimpse of the 105 surrounding acres of birch, hemlock, and American beech, not to mention the wildflowers and bird life.
