Wedgwood pottery, oil paintings, handmade quilts, and fresh flowers are everywhere in the sunny interior. The parlors in each house have coal-fed fireplaces and plush Victorian sofas and chairs. The windows are covered with lace swag curtains. Persian rugs lie on hardwood floors. Each house has bedrooms with bay windows, brass and four-poster beds, and Victorian antiques. The circa-1890 carriage house has a small sitting room, a glass-enclosed porch, a kitchenette, and a four-poster bed in a loft overlooking a small deck. It’s a private retreat that’s ideal for reading a novel, or maybe writing one.
Days begin casually with a “Continentalplus” breakfast, served in the sunporch, the gazebo, or if you prefer, in bed. If you ask, Carl and Dinie will get you the-ater tickets, make dinner reservations, and arrange picnics, dinner in the gazebo, or a moonlight carriage ride.
