Cheap Bed and Breakfast in Virginia: Belle Grae Inn, Staunton

The Belle Grae is a classic small-town hotel occupying an old Victorian house and several restored buildings close to Staunton’s downtown. The Old Inn, built circa 1870, has a wide porch offering views of Betsy Belle and Mary Grae, two of the town’s many hillocks. Its six bedrooms have high ceilings and are decorated with amiable Victorian antiques, and downstairs there are two restaurants—one elegant, in Staunton terms, the other a bistro bar lined with win-dows.
The suites in the 1870 Jefferson House are Belle Grae’s top-of-the-line, for their spaciousness and such amenities as fire-places, balconies, phones, and cable TV. Town-house rooms are oversize and con-tam fireplaces, cable TV, and four-poster or canopy beds. The cottage, with Mission oak and wicker furniture, has a kitchen, and the Bishop’s Suite, with fireplace, kitchen, arid garden, is extremely private.
