Cheap Bed and Breakfast in Virginia: Jordan Hollow Farm Inn, Stanley

As anyone who’s traveled much in rural America knows, farms aren’t always the idyllic-looking places about which city folk fantasize. However, this one comes close. Jordan Hollow Farm is situated on 150 acres in the middle of the scenic Shenandoah Valley at the base of the Blue Ridge range, with great views of the Massanutten Mountains. It is a restored Colonial working horse farm that has been given new life as a cozy, beautiful, and serene country inn. At the heart of the farm, amid maple trees, sits a 200-year-old farmhouse incorporating two hand-hewn log cabins and now known as the Farmhouse Restaurant.
Two of the proprietors, Gail Kyle and Betsy Anderson run the place with a staff of 20. Guests can choose from the low-ceilinged Farmhouse Room, 16 more in the Arbor View Lodge, and four upscale rooms in the Mare Meadow Lodge, which is built of hand-hewn logs. The last are carpeted and have fireplaces,
quilts, cedar furniture, and whirlpool tubs. The old carriage house and corn crib have a new life as a gathering lounge known as the Great Room, whose antique couches and chairs, game tables, and a small library put guests at ease.
