Sara and Cooke Goffigan’s beige house with brick side walls sits off an isolated country lane 4 miles north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and 2 miles west of U.S. 13. The front yard is a vast stretch of private beach frequented by deer and horseshoe crabs and, for 12 years, adventurous guests of Pickett’s Harbor.
Sara’s warmth and the high-ceilinged rooms furnished with antiques and family items immediately make guests feel as if they were sharing an immensely cozy home with friends. The one downstairs bedroom has a four-poster bed, easy chairs, and an exceptional water view. The upstairs rooms, with quilt-covered beds and water views, are pretty, too.
