Tom, who has been the chefat top Washington hotels, creates dinners featuring produce from local farms and fresh fish from nearby waters in menus that change every three weeks. There are two fixed-price menus, as well as a la carte choices (entrées run about $18— $24). Specialties include a sea scallop, shrimp, and oyster dish and Tom’s outstanding soups. The mainly self-serve buffet breakfast, a bit ofa letdown after the excellent dinner, is available in the dining room or—when weather permits—in the garden patio beside the lily pond and fountain.
