The Audiberts have concentrated first on what counts most—the guest rooms. The biggest one is the Gold Room, which has an antique Venetian headboard and the original claw-foot tub. The corner Peach Room commands sweeping views of the Piedmont and the Blue Ridge Mountains. All have fireplaces. Impressive family antiques fill the house. Downstairs there’s a large dining room, a livingroom, and aballroom with a Stein-way grand piano. These rooms still bear signs of age—watermarks, some peel-ingpaint and paper.
