War Hill Inn

The inn, where each room is named after a Virginia native who became an American president, is a copy of the Anderson House in Colonial Williamsburg, and a fine one at that. Inside are architectural features that came from other places— the heart-pine floors from a schoolhouse and a staircase from a Lutheran church. The decor in the guest rooms is a mélange of Colonial reproductions and family things; the downstairs Tyler Room is notable for its size and privacy. War Hill is a good choice for families— thanks to its fenced-in grounds, a small orchard of peaches and plums, and The Washington Cottage, a two-bedroom suite that sleeps five.
4 double rooms with baths, 1 cottage. Air-conditioning, cable TV in rooms, fireplace inparlcir, whirlpool bath in cottage. $75—$120; full breakfast. MasterCard, Visa. No smoking, no pets, 2-night minimum weekends.
