The pine-paneled guest rooms on the lodge’s second floor are functionally decorated and immaculately kept. Only one has a private bath, but the large, multiple shared bathrooms (one for women, another for men) are extremely comfortable and out fitted with tubs, showers, and piles of fresh linen; there’s also a sink in each guest room. The third floor holds a dormitory-style room that can sleep extra kids. Downstairs is a large gathering hall scattered with Adirondack chairs, and a dining room with self-serve bar. There is almost always a crackling fire in both of the huge stone hearths. The room is full of topographical maps, magazines, and books and is a meeting place where guests enjoy predinner drinks.
