This handsome Georgian house, built of brick in 1804, is surrounded by a 225-acre farm that stretches to the top of North Mountain andlies alongwhat was once the Pack Horse Trail, a main road to the West. Its old dependencies include a Flemish-bond brick slave quarters, now converted into a cottage featuring a country kitchen with fireplace, bed-room, and modern bath. Owners Charles and Hazel Hudock, who moved to Prospect Hillin 1978, restored the place and are proud ofits unusual details, like the several working Franklin fireplaces dating from the 1790s and a mural depicting Prospect Hill and scenes from American life. In the spring, you may see deer grazing with their fawns on the grounds. Two ponds yield fine bass in the summer and freeze for skating in the winter. Hazelalso gardens, and the fruits of her labors—homemade grape juice, fresh raspberries, and peaches—often appear on the breakfast table.
