Cheap Bed and Breakfast in West Virginia: Lynn's Inn, Lewisburg

This white-columned farmhouse, built in 1935 on 16 acres just north of the Lewis-burg town line, has a long history as an inn. Owner Richard McLaughlin is no stranger to innkeeping either; his par-ents ran McLaughlin’s Tourist Home in this house for many years while he was growing up. There are four guest rooms on the first and second floors, upstairs and downstairs sitting rooms, and a peaceful front porch from which you can see the McLaughlins’ Hereford and Angus cows and watch Lynn McLaughlin gathering eggs. The guest rooms feature many pleasant touches, including locally handmade quilts, Fenton glass lamps, white wicker and golden oak furniture, walnut bedsteads that have been in the family for years, and rocking chairs, which Lynn feels are important to have in every room. Her breakfasts include those fresh eggs, homemade jellies and jams, and country ham. Often she’ll whip up something special, like a hash-brown casserole or a quiche, and there’s always freshly ground gourmet coffee. In the evening Lynn serves homemade refreshments in the sitting rooms.
